Solid Foundation Female

Are you looking for a proven female?  Angel presents the qualities experienced breeders look for in a solid production female….easy breeder, unassisted deliveries, and plenty of milk.  You can't ask for much more, but you get more with this girl. Solid bone structure, balanced and proportional conformation, and excellent head-to-toe coverage….all of which she passes on to her cria.  She stamps her cria with her size, substance, and straightness (legs and top line).  Add the genetic possibilities of her grandsires Peruvian Fabio and Pperuvian Demetrio and you have a solid foundation of the "tried and true" bloodlines.

Angel is an alpha female.  She is quick to establish her place at the top of the herd and she serves as the sentry…sounding the alarm at the sight or sound of something suspicious.  I can't imagine her winning a "Miss Congeniality" award, but she will tolerate a limited amount of handling.  Her philosophy is best described as "I will leave you alone if you will leave me alone."  This carries through with the interactions with her newborn cria.  She especially needs that bonding in the beginning without human interference.  Translated as, leave them alone right after birth unless there is a dire need to intervene.

Although her fiber characteristics aren't excellent, they aren't too off the mark for a foundation female.  At age 3 and one-half after birthing one cria and being pregnant with her second, her histogram results reflected: AFD 27.2, SD 5.2, CV 19.2, >30% 22.9, CF 77.1.  Unlike conformational faults, fleece characteristics can be improved in one generation with correct breeding decisions as is shown in the histogram results from her 2006 female cria.

Impressive Crias

Angel's first cria is a male who possessed all of the "It Factors" you would expect in an up and coming herdsire…presence, conformation, size, attitude, etc.  However, the quality of his fleece is not what we are looking for in a breeding male and he was gelded.

On the other hand, her two female cria's are exhibiting all the signs of what you are looking for in a maiden, including great fiber characteristics.  Bellarosa is a medium fawn (DOB: 6/10/06, ARI 30476844) sired by Hemingway's Tennessee and is exhibiting the density you would expect from a Tennessee offspring.  Her 2007 histogram was taken when she was 11 months old.  The results were AFD 23.4, SD 4.8, CV 20.5, > 30% 7.6, CF 92.4.  Her second shear (2008) representing a 12 month growth resulted in 10.2 lbs total weight and 5.5" staple length.  Bella exhibits all of Angel's strong conformational traits as well as being an easy breeder…she was settled on her first breeding.  Her cria is due 1/26/09.  At two years old, she weighs 157.7 lbs.

Matina May is white (DOB 5/17/07, ARI 30898448) and following along in her half-sister's footsteps.  She is well-developed with solid conformation and substantial fleece.  At exactly one year old she weighed 109 lbs, sheared a total of 6.8 lbs of buttery soft fiber and had a 4" staple length.
